Energy Trainee of the Residential Colleges 2017 – 2018
The pilot phase of the Energy Trainee Program has been concluded in May 2018. Throughout a period of 6.5 months from November 2017 to May 2018, the Energy Section has worked with the Residential Colleges for the enhancement of energy performance and fostering a culture of energy conservation. By recruiting the active involvement of 19 trainees representing the 10 Residential Colleges, the team has contributed to the continued improvement with respect to energy management.
Among the many activities, some are highlighted here:
- Trainings of various kinds to equip trainees with specific skills
- Energy Audit of the Residential Colleges
- Energy management opportunity surveys
- Proposals raised by the trainees specific to the college environments
- Presentation of works and activities
- Data collection such as metering records
- Data analysis
Some of the energy consumption analysis were based on the data collected by the trainees and information supplied by the administrative staff of the Residential Colleges. A few examples are attached herewith to illustrate the results. Some activities are also presented in the attached photos and poster designed by our trainee.
We plan to launch the program again in the next academic year 2018 – 2019. An enlarged team of trainees will be recruited for a more extensive program. We look forward to another fruitful year for our participants and our campus development.
