Dear Academic and Administration Colleagues

Most participating units’ electricity cost decreased in May of 2017 when compared to those of 2016. The electricity cost of “Cheong Kun Lun College & Ma Man Kei and Lo Pak Sam College” (W33), “Faculty of Law & Faculty of Education” (E32 & E33), “Choi Kai Yau College” (W12), “Shiu Pong College” (S9) and, “Stanley Ho East Asia College” (W13) has dropped by 25% to 33%.

The Big Saver of May was “UM Wu Yee Sun Library and University Gallery” (E1 & E2). The electricity cost saving was MOP 216,890.

As for the prize “Best Implementer of Energy-Saving Measures”, “UM Wu Yee Sun Library and University Gallery” (E1 & E2) and “Faculty of Law & Faculty of Education” (E32 & E33) implemented 11 and 5 energy saving measures, respectively, in May. The measures included switching off unnecessary lights, switching off computer before getting off work, setting air conditioning temperature to 25 degree, keeping doors and windows closed when air conditioners are running.

The charts and figures below demonstrate the performance of each participating units, standing, and the number of energy saving measures implemented in May.

Remark: As W33 is the new operation building in Aug 2016, average electricity cost for 2016 of other college buildings will be used for comparison.
