UM English Debating Team was invited for Shooting and Interview on TDM Programme "Our People, Our Life"
UM English Debating Team (EDT) was invited for an interview on the TDM programme "Our People, Our Life". During the shooting, coaches and the captain of the team talked about how to deal with the setbacks encountered in debating. Besides, eight senior members demonstrated a mock debate in the British parliamentary format.
Since the establishment of EDT, it has continuously achieved outstanding results from various local and international debate tournaments, such as:
• Champion & Grand Final Best Speaker of the Guang-dong Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area Universities Debating Championship 2022
• Ranked Top 8 at the World Universities Debating Championship 2018 & 2020
• Ranked Top 8 at the National English Debating Contest (FLTRP Cup) for consecutively 14 years (2008-2022) – Won 3 National Champions, 4 Second Prizes, 1 Third Prize
• Won 10th straight Championship at Inter-varsity Debate Contest in Macau
In recent years, UM EDT has actively engaged in the promotion and development of the English debate in Macao. In August, EDT and Macau English Debating Association hosted a 2-day training workshop for secondary students in Macao. This semester, EDT was invited by several secondary schools to promote English debate on campus.
