Interesting Facts about Macao Handover Seminar
On 24th November 2022, MCM College was delighted to invite Prof. Lok Wai Kin from Faculty of Law to deliver a talk regarding interesting facts about the handover of sovereignty of Macao with the aim of retracing this important historical event that occurred in Macao on 20 December 1999. Prof. Lok answered many questions such as:
· Why the “Song of Seven Sons” became the theme song of Macao Handover?
· Why was Macao handed over to China on 20 December 1999?
· How did the regional flag and emblem of Macao come about, and what was the meaning of the design pattern of the flag?
· Why was it stipulated that Macao will not change for 50 years, and what will happen after 50 years?
After the seminar, four representatives of MCM College’s Student Work Group for Nurturing the Spirit of Loving our Country and Macao performed the song, “Song of Seven Sons” in sign language to express their patriotic feelings, which won much applause from the audience.
