Since the construction of the new campus in 2013, the campus’s Facility Management core network switch has been in use for more than 8 years and is about to reach its life span. With the development of smart campus, the carrying capacity of the existing core network equipment would not meet the new requirement in the future. Therefore, ICTO planned to replace the Facility Management core network equipment in two phases in April 2021.
Replacement phases:
- Phase I: Replacement of Facility Management Network core switch in primary data center on 10 April 2021 (Saturday) from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
- Phase II: Replacement of Facility Management Network core switch in secondary data center on 24 April 2021 (Saturday) from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Since the Facility Management core network equipment is the central communication point that connects various facility management systems, the upgraded network system will improve the stability and collaborative computing capabilities of the Facility Management systems as a whole.
During the system replacement periods, the related facility management services will be temporarily or intermittently affected. In order to minimize the impact of university users, ICTO has communicated and collaborated with relevant system administrators. The facility management systems that were temporarily or intermittently affected at that time are as follows.
Facility Management Systems |
Fingerprint Recognition for Staff Check-in/out System |
Access control management system |
Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) surveillance system |
Central parking management system |
Power monitoring system |
Uninterruptible power supply (UPS) and generator set management system |
Intelligent lighting monitoring system |
Public announcement system |
