“Portuguese-Style Mosaic Art” Workshop
Mosaic is an art form that originated in Mesopotamia in which many small stones or pieces of colored glass are used to form patterns. On 26th November 2022, Dom Pedro V House of Moon Chun Memorial College organised a Portuguese-style mosaic art workshop in collaboration with Macau Artist Society and invited a young Macao artist Ms. Zha Rui to be the instructor. The workshop aimed to understand the history of mosaic art and experience handmade art creation.
Firstly, the instructor briefly introduced the history and development of mosaic art and its relationship with Macao culture. Then, the instructor taught students how to use pliers, tweezers, and glue to create their own artwork. Students then began to sketch, pick colored glass, break the glass, and glue it together. Everyone gave full attention to their creativity and completed the tasks with a sense of accomplishment and joy.
