MCM College Music appreciation workshops – Vocal Music in the Baroque Era

Music appreciation is the joy of listening and discovering. The concept is often taught in a music course for music majors. In MCM College, music appreciation became a way of self-exploration and mutual learning. Guest speakers, professors and students, will prepare an appreciation guide on the history, origin and characteristics of a particular era, sharing with others what to anticipate and how to appreciate the period’s musical forms and texture.

For this academic year’s first music appreciation workshop, MCM College is delighted to have invited Professor Katrine Wong as the special speaker on “Vocal music in the Baroque Era”. Covering the topics on the meaning of Baroque and the types of music prevalent in that period, Prof. Wong gave a vivid workshop with her engaging speech, careful musical selections and live performances, captivating participants’ eyes and ears.

The next music appreciation workshop will be on 23 November, 2022, talking about the Classical Era and sonata form by student representative, Miss Nemo Li.
