Dear postgraduate students,

Due to insufficient bedspace in PGH, the University can only ensure accommodation for year-one postgraduate students who are in their first year of study and do not have a residence in Macao. Thereafter, all second year postgraduate students or above will unlikely be offered an accommodation in PGH. Students who were not offered a bedspace are required to arrange off-campus accommodation by themselves.

After having consulted the academic units and student representatives, in consideration of the actual accommodation needs of the applicants, the SRS has made a review of Article 2, Point 6.1 a) of the "Guidelines for Assessing the Applications for UM PGH Accommodation". "The situation(s) of the PhD students within the normal study period which classified by their academic unit" has been revised. The relevant amendments are as follows:

Original Version:6.1 (a) PhD students within the normal study period* who are classified by their academic unit as:
Students who must conduct experiment(s) in the campus laboratory during the target residence period due to their own research and the relevant experiment(s) cannot be conducted off-campus;
Revised Version:6.1 (a) PhD students within the normal study period* who are classified by their academic unit as:
During the target residence period, students who must conduct experiment(s) in the campus laboratory due to their own research and the relevant experiment(s) cannot be conducted off-campus, or students who must use the facility(ies) on-campus due to other academic needs and relevant academic need(s) cannot be acquired off-campus;

The aforementioned Guidelines has been approved by the Dean of Student with effective from 5 January 2023. Besides, the Guidelines have been uploaded to the Student Resources Office (Student Accommodation) website: https://srs.sao.um.edu.mo/guidelines-and-rules/.
