Dear Postgraduate New Students,

Welcome to the University of Macau’s Postgraduate Housing (PGH)! As a new academic year approaches, we hope you had a happy and fulfilling summer vacation!

With the recent development of the epidemic situation in the Mainland and Macao, PGH will arrange the move-in in separate batches to avoid large gathering of students moving in at the same time. For students who have successfully applied for PGH accommodation, please read the following information below carefully:

1. Check-in Timetable (updated on August 15, 2022) :

Mainland new students who have enter Macao on or before 4 August 2022 are required to notify the Student Resources Section by email at least three working days in advance. Upon approval, they can check-in from August 1 to 26, 2022,
The actual check-in date is subject to the final approval email.

Hong Kong, Taiwan Region and Overseas PG new students are required to notify the Student Resources Section by email prior to planning their trips. Upon approval, students can check-in on the day they complete their self-health monitoring period.

* Appointment for check-in is not required. Check-in service is available 24 hours a day (including public holidays). Students can check-in at any time upon arrival on campus. In order to ensure smooth check-in procedures, students are advised to check in during the office hours 9:00 – 18:00. To avoid harassment to roommates,students should avoid checking-in between 22:00 and 08:00 the next day.

* Appointment for check-in is not required. Check-in service is available 24 hours a day (including public holidays). Students can check-in at any time upon arrival on campus. To avoid disturbance to roommates, students are advised to check-in before 10pm if possible.

** Students who are unable to check-in on or before September 6, 2022 due to the epidemic control in Mainland, quarantine measures in Macao or other special circumstances shall send an email to PGH at sao.pgh@um.edu.mo before the check-in period to reserve the bedspace. The email should include the following information: name, student no., epidemic area and estimated date of check-in. If no advance delay move-in email is received, there will be no bedspace reserved for arrival.


2. Arrangements for online room selection: online room selection of shared rooms in W32 for PhD new students and online room selection of shared rooms in S-zone for Master's new students will be notified by individual emails in mid-August.

3. Check-in Venue: successful applicants will be notified by email.

4. Preventive measures:

  • Please prepare your green Macau Health Code before moving in PGH;
  • Students moving in to PGH must meet the following epidemic prevention requirements:
    1) On the day of move-in, students are required to present a negative nucleic acid test certificate within 48 hours after the date of sampling. Students who fail to provide the said certificate will be refused at check-in;

    2) On the day of move-in, students are required to present their COVID-19 vaccination record to the management company.

    3) Within 48 hours after check-in, students are required to undergo a nucleic acid test. Students may schedule the test through the "Macau Health Code" mobile app. The result will be displayed on the Macau Health Code and students are required to submit a screenshot of the test results to the management company (for example, if you check in on August 1, the test must be completed on or before August 3, and the result must be submitted to the management company on or before August 4); otherwise 5 PGH points will be deducted;

    4) During your stay, if your health code changes to red or yellow, please notify the management company immediately;

    5) “Epidemic prevention measures for The Postgraduate House S1-S4 and W32)” must be followed (LINK). In addition, PGH will develop or revise specific epidemic prevention measures according to the latest situation of COVID-19. Students should strictly abide by and support the current epidemic prevention measures to ensure the overall health and safety of all residents.



5. Preparation for your travel: kindly check clearly the Special Webpage against Epidemics of Macao Government: https://www.ssm.gov.mo/apps1/PreventCOVID-19/en.aspx#clg17458 about the medical observation and prevention guidelines before making arrangements for coming to campus. In addition, please read carefully the attached “Notice of epidemic prevention during check-in of Postgraduate House” and prepare your own thermometer, masks and other personal hygiene and sterilize items;

6. Documents needed for Check-in Procedures:

You are advised to generate your Macau Health Code before your arrival. If the code is red, please stay at where you are and inform the Graduate School for class arrangement and notify PGH for rearranging check-in schedule.

7. Adjustment of PGH residence fee of 1st semester of academic year 2022/2023 of newly admitted postgraduate students of academic year 2022/2023:
    a) For students who have completed the move-in procedure before 22 August 2022, the original PGH residence fee charging scheme would be applied.

    b) For students who proceed the move-in procedure on or after 22 August 2022, the residence fee of 1st semester of academic year 2022/2023 will be adjusted as follows. Regardless of when the new student move in, the residence fee will be fully charged.

  • Before check-in, students need to know in advance about the rules and guidelines of Postgraduate House, the PGH Point System, Accommodation Fee and Charges, refund terms and conditions, you may refer to the following link: https://srs.sao.um.edu.mo/pgh-mangement/.
  • PGH provides public facilities such as TV room, study room, small indoor sport venue, laundry and drying room; Air conditioner, refrigerator and basic furniture will be provided in each room;
  • · Students should prepare their own pillows, bed covers, bedding and personal items. Note: Mattress size of single room and shared room is around 200 cm (L) x 102 cm (W) x 15 cm (H), mattress size of suite is around 200 cm (L) x 150 cm (W) x 20 cm (H);
  • The Wireless LAN service is accessible in PGH. You need to bring your own laptop. Please bring 3-meter-long cable if you would like to use Wired LAN Service (Friendly Reminder: PGH uses three-pin-square-plugs);
  • There is a Medical Center on Campus. In case of emergencies please call (853) 8822-4000 or the Security Center (853) 8822-4126 for help;
