In order to let students from "Stage Management Programme" and "UM Dance Troupe" to increase the knowledge of huge stage and backstage operation, as well as to enhance the knowledge of stage theory, Student Resource Section organized a stage visit to MGM Cotai stage on 21 September 2022, with around 20 UM students participated.
UM students watched the immersive "MGM Experience" and toured the MGM theatre backstage, which allowed them to gain a deep understanding of the technology behind the top-performance venues and its operations. Following the visit, MGM Entertainment Marketing team shared with the students the challenges encountered when planning different types of performances, and the students had gained better understanding of large-scale event planning and technological innovation application in the theatre.
Following the theatre visit, UM students toured around the art collections at MGM Cotai and headed to the Spectacle for experiencing the mixture of “art, techniques, and plants” under the largest indoor LED screens in the world, while a professional technician was there on spot to explain how the show was operated. The students all enjoyed the visit and benefited greatly from the programme!
