Recently, a security vulnerability is found on the Windows client for web conferencing software Zoom. The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on victim's computer where Zoom Client for Windows is installed by getting the user to perform some typical action such as opening a document file during a Zoom meeting. No security warning is shown to the user in the course of attack.
The vulnerability affects Zoom Client for Windows (version 5.1.2 or earlier) on Microsoft Windows 7 or earlier operating system.
Thus, ICTO strongly suggests our users to:
- Update the Zoom Client for Windows to the latest version. You can download here;
- Do not open unknown meeting invitation link;
- As Microsoft has end the support on Windows 7 or earlier Windows operating system, we strongly suggest our users to update the operating system in order to get the latest security updates. Please refer to the link:
