4. Is there any minimum and maximum number of UM competencies score (CS) for each activity?

According to the scoring system of WP, cabinet members of UMSU Sub-organization can be counted with 50 CS (per 6 months – Jan-Jun or July-Dec) in the area of “Leadership and Service”. This 50 CS includes the regular meetings, general assembly meetings, inauguration, etc. organized by your sub-organization. Therefore, meetings, which are considered as a part of your committee member’s responsibilities, are already counted into those 50 CS as described.
In addition, organization of student activities by your sub-organization can be counted CS in the area of “Leadership and Service.”

About activity record submission

12. How would I know if my UM competencies score (CS) is auto-counted into my record or if I have to submit activity declaration after completion of the activity?
In our normal practice, all activities NOT organized by UM (UM departments, faculties, RCs or student organizations) are NOT considered as CS auto-counted in the programme.
For auto-counted activities, you may find the information of the activities on our WP webpage (“News” on the WP main page); you may also find the WP logo and related information (the number of CS) and WP area will be counted toward) on the promotion materials for the activities, for example, poster, banner, notice at the entrance of the registration counter during the activity, etc.

13. How would my attendance be checked for UM competencies score (CS) auto-counted activities?
Please check with the organizer for checking your attendance. Some organizer may use a student I.D. scanner for checking your attendance upon your arrival (check-in) and after the activity (check-out). Therefore, please bring your Student I.D. for attending the auto-counted activity. Once our WP Workgroup receives the participant name list from the activity organizer, CS will be counted toward your record. If you have any further enquiry regarding your attendance at the CS auto-counted activity, please check the CS by your WP account or contact the activity organizer.

14. I’ve attended a WP auto-counted activity, which was organized by FED on campus yesterday. However, I didn’t bring in my student I.D. for check-in and check-out. Shall I submit the online “Activity Declaration Form” and have it endorsed by the organizer?
You don’t have to submit any “Activity Declaration Form” for WP auto-counted activity. Please check with the organizer (FED) for sending us (WP Workgroup) the correct participant namelist.

15. I watched a movie at cinema, how can I declare for the activity?
After you log-in your WP account, please click on the “submit new record” and submit the completed e-form, attached with your movie admission ticket, which is signed with your name and student I.D on.

16. I went to a concert in HK, can it counted for CS in the programme? The organizer did not allow the audience to take any photograph during the concert, what should I do for my attendance approval at the said activity?
Yes, off-campus activity can be counted toward the WP. If you cannot provide any certificate or signed “Activity Declaration Form”, etc. which is endorsed by the organizer, you may attach your concert admission ticket, which is signed with your name and student I.D on.

17. How/When can I know whether the activity is approved or not after the submission of the record?
You can check with the status (approval, disapprove or pending) after you log-in your WP account. An email will be sent to you once your record is disapproved or returned for further correction. All results of approved or disapproved record will be notified by 30 June of every academic year.

18. What should I do to confirm my record if I do not receive any auto-reply email after submitting my record?
You may first check the status of your activity submission on “My Records” after logging-in your WP account. If you do not find the record there, please re-submit it. You may also contact our WP Workgroup for further assistance.

About WP awards

19. Will all the students who meet the criteria for the awards be rewarded? Or there is a quota for the receiver of each award?
All students who meet the criteria for the WP Bronze, Silver or Gold Award will be rewarded accordingly. There is no limited quota of awardees from each WP award. However, each student is eligible to only one kind of award per academic year. For example, if your accumulated CS reached the criteria for Gold Award, you will not be rewarded with Bronze or Silver Award in the same academic year.
Please be noted that we offer WP Scholarship for 22 most outstanding students in the programme (i.e. those with the highest number CS and balanced development in the WP areas) who also have at least a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or equivalent.

20. How and when will I receive my prizes?
Awardees will receive their prizes in the following academic year. The Student Development Section (SDS) will also notify the awardees individually.

21. If I obtain a Gold Award in WP while I was a year 1 UM student, am I eligible to receive any WP award or scholarship in the next 3 years of studies at UM?
CS are accumulated, according to the UM Academic Year. You may find the updated WP Programme Schedule on our WP webpage. In other words, your participation of activities in year 1 can be counted for CS in that academic year, but not the next academic year.
If you obtain a Golden Award in WP in the first year, as long as you reach the standard / requirement of our WP awards while you are a UM student, you are eligible to obtain the awards and / or scholarship accordingly, regardless it is your first, second, third or fourth year of studies.
