THE UNIVERSITY OF HONG KONG
FACULTY OF SCIENCE

Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence

Applications are invited for admission in September 2023 to study for the degree of Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence. To be eligible for admission to the programme, a candidate shall satisfy both the University Admission Requirements and the Programme Specific Requirements as listed below:

(a) shall comply with the

General Regulations

;

(b) shall hold a Bachelor’s degree with honours of this University or a qualification of equivalent standard from this University or another comparable institution accepted for this purpose;

(c) for a candidate who is seeking admission on the basis of a qualification from a university or comparable institution outside Hong Kong of which the language of teaching and/or examination is not English, shall satisfy the University English language requirement applicable to high degrees as prescribed under

General Regulation G2(b).

(d) shall pass a qualifying examination if so required.

(e) shall possess knowledge of linear algebra, calculus, probability theory, introductory statistics and computer programming.

An application for exemption from the above requirements shall be considered on a case by case basis.

2. It is a programme jointly offered by the Department of Mathematics (host), the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science and the Department of Computer Science.

3. The programme adopts an interdisciplinary pedagogy which equips students with both the underlying theories and hands-on applications of artificial intelligence.

4. The curriculum shall extend over 1.5 academic years of full-time study.

5. Applications for a taught postgraduate programme can be made via our on-line application system at https://admissions.hku.hk/tpg/ or https://hkumath.hku.hk/web/mscai/mindex.php.

7. Applicants who do not hear from the Department of Mathematics by July 31, 2023 may assume their applications unsuccessful.

8. Application period:

Main Round Deadline: 12:00 noon (GMT +8), January 31, 2023

andidates who apply within this period will have priority.

Clearing Round Deadline: 12:00 noon (GMT +8), April 17, 2023

Candidates may be invited for admission interviews and tests.
