To: All Users
As informed by the Cybersecurity Incident Alert and Response Centre (CARIC), the number of phishing emails containing malicious software, which seem to be sent by people you know (internal staff, clients or vendors), are continuously increasing recently. As mentioned in e-bulletins previously, all users are advised to be vigilant and not to respond to suspicious emails.
Characteristics of the phishing emails:
- An excel file is attached, a malicious software will be executed if you open the attachment.
- A Windows shortcut file (e.g. .lnk) is attached, a malicious software will be executed if you open the attachment.
- A password-protected compressed file (e.g. .zip, .rar) is attached with a password in the email, a malicious software will be executed if you extract the excel and shortcut file.
Please DO NOT CLICK SUSPICIOUS ATTACHMENTS and DO NOT RESPOND to this kind of emails. If you have any further queries, please feel free to contact our Help Desk.
