Keywords” and “Wrong Moves” of online job application
The reason that companies require job seekers to apply for positions online is to find the person they want from the large application pool. So there are certain“keywords”that companies stick to when selecting applicants. In the meantime, applicants may also do some “wrong moves” that stop them from going forward in the job hunting process. Here are those “keywords” and “wrong moves” that you need to pay attention to:
  • Keywords:
    1. Major: Well-known companies usually don't limit the major of their applicants. But for some positions that have a strong major preference, you must highlight your major and your related qualifications.
    2.
    3. English: English ability is a definite requirement by many big companies. For example, some companies may require applicants to have obtained a certain score or higher in the CET English exam or score in TOEFL/IELTS. Your English conversational skills will also be a highlight.
  • Wrong Moves:
1. In order to finish the application in time, just open the web page and start the application process.
(Correct action): You should be fully prepared before the application. For example, you can get to know the company culture and the areas that the company emphasizes so that you can be fully prepared when answering open questions.

2. Details are not important.
(Correct action): Don't make simple mistakes, mind your spelling and grammar. Most big companies value professionalism, so don't lose your first impression because of the mistakes you make.

3. Online application is too complicated, quit the application halfway or fill in the application casually.
→ (Correct action): Normally it takes a long time to finish the online application process, some even take three to four hours, so don't give up. If you don't treat the application carefully, the only outcome will be elimination. In the job hunting process, the highest elimination rate occurs in the online application process.
