In cyberattack, email is one of the popular attack media used by cybercriminals. Email related systems are always the target of the attacks . Our SMTP system is also experiencing password brute-force and spraying attack every day.
In order to enhance the security level of SMTP service and protect users' account, SMTP service will be limited within campus's intranet starting from 1st December, 2022.
Starting from 1st December, 2022, sending email from Gmail or other webmail services as userid@um.edu.mo is not supported.
The adjustment will not affect Outlook and Webmail user. Also, program, script or mail client which is running on the machine connected to intranet or SSLVPN is not affected.
For those user(s) used SMTP service in the last 90 days, ICTO will send a notification email with this arrangement.
