2018-2019 UM Sports Awards Presentation Ceremony and Plaque Unveiling Ceremony for Sports Scholarships was ended with Success
The “Plaque Unveiling Ceremony for Sports Scholarships of the University of Macau” and “2018-2019 UM Sports Awards Presentation Ceremony”was successfully held on 3 May 2019.
The Office of Sports Affairs (OSA) held the Sports Awards Presentation Ceremony since 2002, with the aim to recognize the outstanding athletes and sports teams throughout the year. The selected outstanding athletes and sports teams would receive the sports scholarship. This academic year, as donated by Lisboa Holdings Limited and Parry Group Investment and Development Company Limited, the amount of sports scholarship has increased from MOP20,000 to MOP170,000. The award of "UM Outstanding Macau Athlete" was newly established and the number of "Best UM Sports Team Athlete" awardees was also increased from 1 to 2.
UM Sports Teams have won 51 gold, 45 silver and 36 bronze medals in the local, non-local and mainland competitions so far in this academic year. Besides the winners of sports scholarship, 28 coaches and assistants to coach, 51 sports team leaders (captains, vice-captains and assistants) and 78 loyal members of UM Sports Teams were appreciated with their contributions to UM Sports Team.
In this connection, OSA specially set up the display boards to recognize the awarded outstanding athletes & sports teams, as well as to thank for the donors of the sports scholarships. In the plaque unveiling ceremony, Prof. So expressed sincere thanks to two donors of sports scholarships for their supports to the development of UM’s sports. The display boards were located at lobby of Sports Complex (N8, beside the Trophy Room). The 2018-2019 UM Sports Awards Presentation Ceremony was held right after the unveiling ceremony.
