Introduction to Prof. Xu Cheng-Zhong
Prof. Cheng-Zhong XU (IEEE Fellow) is University of Macau’s Dean of Faculty of Science and Technology, Chair Professor of Computer and Information Science, Interim Director of Institute of Collaborative Innovation, and Chief Scientist in Intelligent Transportation of the State Key Laboratory of Internet of Things for Smart City. Previously he was with the faculty of Wayne State University, USA, and worked as the Director of Institute of Advanced Computing and Digital Engineering and the Head of Cloud Computing Research Centre in Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China. Prof. XU was an awardee of Overseas Distinguished Young Scholar of National Natural Science Foundation of China in 2010. He was also selected by the National Thousand Talents Programme and the Leading Talents Programme of Guangdong Province. He is a member of the National Advisory Committee on Cloud Computing and Big Data, and the Head of the National Cloud Computing Inspection and Testing Service Platform and the Director of Guangdong Engineering Laboratory for Information Security in Cloud Computing.
His main research interests include parallel and distributed systems, cloud computing and big data and data-driven smart technologies. He published 300+ papers in leading journals and conferences, being cited about 10K times and ranked the top-10 in the field of parallel and distributed computing. He possessed 100+ patents and some of them were transferred to Huawei, ZTE and Alibaba. Besides, he incubated Shenzhen Institute of Beidou Applied Technology in 2014, which received investment from Didi Chuxing.
Prof. XU serves or served on a number of international renowned journal editorial boards, including IEEE Transactions on Computers, IEEE Transactions on Parallel and Distributed Systems, IEEE Transactions on Cloud Computing, Journal of Parallel and Distributed Computing, Science China: Information Science and ZTE Communications. He served as the Chairman or Programme Committee Chair for tens of international conferences. He has been the Chair of the IEEE Technical Committee on Distributed Processing since 2015. |
