UM English Debating Team advanced into semi-final in the Asia Debate Open-Chengdu 2019

The Asia Debate Open-Chengdu 2019 debate tournament was held at Holiday Inn Express Chengdu West Gate, China from September 13 to 15. The tournament has always been known for its high quality of judges and debaters. The tournament also attracted a large number of debaters from Mainland China, Korea, Japan, United States, Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia, Hong Kong and Macau.

The English Debating Team in University of Macau sent 5 teams to the tournament. Among them, Alisa Wan Ying Jia, a third-year undergraduate student from FAH and CKLC majoring in English Studies as well as Liew Fook Khei, a second-year undergraduate student from FST and SPC majoring in the Application in Mathematics had successfully broke into the semi-final. Besides that, Florence Choy, the assistant coach of the team with Emon Zhou, a year three student from FSS and LCWC majoring in International Relation advanced into the quarterfinal.

Garrett Li Jia Neng, Mark Wong Kuok On, Sandra Dai Yin Hang, Sherry Huang Shu Yan, Clara Wu Chun Xuan, Victoria Zhang Zhi Qing also made remarkable achievements.
