Bulletin
Dear UM students,
Recently we detected a case that involved bullying, threat and extortion among teenagers. The victim was threatened and extorted for money in a deserted place near school by a group of youngsters in which the youngest was only 11 years old.
According to the Article 147 “Threat”of the Macao Criminal Code. Offenders who use threat in communication to cause fear and unease to others can be sentenced to a maximum prison terms of 2 years. Article 215”Extortion” stipulates that anyone who gains property by the use of force or threat can be penalized and receive a maximum imprisonment term of 8 years; in addition, in Article 137 "Wounding" offenders who inflict bodily injuries to others can face up to 3 years’imprisonment; Article 138 “Aggravated Wounding”states that anyone who inflicts serious bodily injuries to others can receive the maximum penalty of 10 years’imprisonment.

Verbal abuse, threat. Extortion or wounding committed in real life or online is a criminal offence. We would like to remind students to remain calm when there is a conflict or disagreement between peers. Remember to be respectful and loving to one another and do not act on impulse. If anyone falls victim to bullying, he/she should immediately inform his /her teachers, in- school counsellors or parents.
