Option 1: The First 100 Days of the Trump Presidency

Location: Washington DC
Itinerary: Link

Content:

The focus will be how well the Trump administration will have done in its first 100 days. Since Franklin Roosevelt took office
in 1932 and initiated a vigorous “first 100 days”, it has become a custom for journalists, scholars and others to assess how well
a new president has done after the first 100 days.

Starting with Trump’s inauguration on January 20, the 100 day mark will be in mid-May.
The HKAC will bring a delegation of up to 20 undergraduate students to the nation’s capital for a program that analyzes the following
aspects of Trump’s new government.

1. Key cabinet appointments and the formation of the White House staff

2. Display of Trumps new approaches to foreign policy, especially toward Asia and China

3. Priorities for Trump’s domestic social policies

4. Priorities for Trump’s economic policies

5. Replacing the empty seat on the Supreme Court

6. Relations between Trump in the White House and the Republican led Congress

7. Priorities for security, anti-terrorism and immigration policies
