My Career Path Seminar Series – From Macao Grassroots to Legal Profession

On 6th November, 2022, MCM College was delighted to invite a well-known lawyer, Mr. Chang San Chi to deliver a sharing session regarding his career path. This seminar attracted 20 students from the Faculty of Law, and was moderated by Dr. Lee Kin Kei, senior instructor at the same Faculty.

Mr. Chang recalled dropping out of school during his childhood due to poor family conditions. He started earning a living at thirteen and continued for five years. Later, he worked as an office assistant in a law firm. That became a turning point in his life. Someone in charge of the law firm told him:

"You are still young, study more, and you will definitely excel in the future."

Since then, he studied from primary level to successfully completing high school. He was recommended to the Faculty of Law, University of Macau. After much perseverance and guidance, he graduated from UM and pursued a doctorate in law, and finally became a lawyer and a partner of a law firm.

Mr. Chang’s story is a living example of how knowledge changes destiny. In conclusion, he pointed out although everyone's starting point in life may be different, as long as one equips oneself well, has the perseverance and the courage to overcome difficulties, one will definitely be able to achieve one’s goal. Dr. Lee called on the students to cherish their valuable learning opportunities, learn from Mr. Chang’s perseverance in learning, and not give up easily despite of adversity.
