    How to Write a Press Release and Select Photos?

    How to write a press release
    1) The press release can be in Chinese and/or English, with bilingual versions in Chinese and English being preferable. The story should adopt the inverted pyramid structure, which means placing the most important information in the lead paragraph. The lead should include 5Ws and 1H (5Ws and 1H are who, what, when, where, why and how).

    Example: Events (ceremonies)
    Paragraph Content Remark
    Lead (1st par.)
    • What has been achieved from the event?
    • Any positive comments about UM from the VIP (s)?
    Avoid flowery phrases and words
    2 nd par.
    • Who officiates at or presides over the ceremony?
    Check carefully the title(s) and name(s) of the individuals involved
    3 rd par.
    • Any speeches from UM representatives?
    4 th par
    • List out attending guests if any
    2) Selecting the photos can follow below examples:
    Inauguration ceremony
    Avoid the group photo without any action
    Capture the moment when inaugurating
    Agreement signing ceremony
    Avoid the group photo without any action
    Capture the moment when signing agreements
    Receiving awards
    Avoid standing group photo
    An award recipient with a certificate and a trophy is a nice photo
    Avoid blur photos
    Avoid blur photos which could not clearly show the faces of the guests
    Ensure the guests’ faces are clearly shown
    Avoid low resolution photos
    Avoid photos with low resolution
    Use photos with high resolution (at least 1MB large)
    Avoid photos with side faces
    Avoid photos with side faces
    Use photos that clearly show the faces
