The new email archiving solution in Lotus Notes is named as "Enterprise Vault (EV)". Similar to the previous archive system, EV will automatically move those emails which you haven't accessed for a long period of time to the archive server. Currently, we predefined it as more than 18 months. Then the original email will be replaced by a “Shortcut” email, of which the content will be converted to plain-text and attachment icon will be replaced to text-link.
The archived emails can be indicated by an “Enterprise Vault” icon  . The preview pane will only show the content of the shortcut that displays as plain-text. You can also open the original email content by simply double clicking the shortcut email.
